LM Remote KeyMap : Windows Mobile Remote
|Download Free Version|
With LM Remote KeyMap you can now use your Windows Mobile 6 device (Standard, Classic or Pro) to remote control your PC. The Windows Mobile Remote will emulate the remote you choose to use with LM Remote KeyMap on your PC (wether the remote physically exists or not) like a MCE Remote or a Firefly Remote or any other LM Remote KeyMap supported remote.
- Microsoft .Net Compact Framework 2 installed on your Windows Mobile device
- LM Remote KeyMap donator edition installed on your PC
The Windows Mobile Remote will only work with a network device that can let go UDP multicast traffic. Usually, you'll have to use a WiFi enabled device (a Bluetooh network might work, ActiveSync desktop passthrough will not)
The Windows Mobile Remote will only work with LM Remote KeyMap donator edition. To install the Windows Mobile Remote on your device, browse the LM Remote KeyMap Config & Log folder (you can open this folder from the LM Remote KeyMap taskbar notification icon), you'll find two cab in the plugins\Windows Mobile 6 folder:
- SmartRemote Pro Setup.cab : This is the cab file to install on a touchscreen device (Windows Mobile 6 Classic or Professional)
- SmartRemote Std Setup.cab : This is the cab file to install on non touchscreen device (Windows Mobile 6 Standard, typically a Smartphone)
Copy the right cab file to your Windows Mobile device while connected throuhg ActiveSync (or Windows Mobile Device Center), then use the File Explorer on your device to install the cab file. Once installed, you'll find a "Smart Remote" shortcut in your Windows Mobile Start Menu.
Using it on Windows Mobile 6 Standard (no touchscreen)
When you first launch the Smart Remote, you'll have to specify the computer / remote to use. To do this select "Menu / Connect", the "Connect" screen shows up
You should see in the combo box all PC that does run currently LM Remote KeyMap on your network (be careful of Firewall on the LM Remote KeyMap PC). Select the PC you want to control and click on "Done". You can also reverse the up/down/left/right arrow if necessary when your device is in landscape mode (some device doesn't requires this as the buttons are already flipped accordingly)
You now see the buttons layout corresponding to your PC remote. The "Up" / "Down" / "Left" / "Right" / "Ok" / "*" and "#" buttons of your Smartphone are mapped to the PC remote buttons displayed on the screen. So in the example if you press the "#" button on your Smartphone, your PC will receive a "Info" button press.
Also the numbers keys on your Smartphone are directly mapped to numbers buttons on your PC.
You can click on "Next" or "Menu" / "Back" to switch between buttons layout. Then "Menu" / "Exit" to exit the application.
