Open the file "C:\Program Files\LM Gestion\LM Remote KeyMap\LM Remote KeyMap.exe.config" into Notepad and change the number in the line <add name="TraceLevel" value="1"></add> accordingly to the desired trace level :
0 : No Trace
1 : Trace errors (this is the default)
2 : Trace warnings
3 : Trace infos
4 : Trace all (verbose)
Save the file and restart LM Remote KeyMap.
You can also choose the trace level temporarily by right clicking on the notification icon. This way you are not required to restart LM Remote KeyMap (However the trace level will revert to its default if you restart LM Remote KeyMap)
The trace file (trace.log) will be saved in C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\LM Gestion\LM Remote KeyMap folder for Windows XP, or C:\ProgramData\LM Gestion\LM Remote KeyMap. The trace is only completely saved to disk when you exit LM Remote KeyMap.
Open the file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LM Gestion\LM Remote KeyMap\settings.xml" into Notepad and change the channel in the line <firefly-channel value="All" /> with the following values :
All : Listen to all channels
Channel1 : Listen to channel 1 only
Channel2 : Listen to channel 2 only
Channel16 : Listen to channel 16 only
Save the file and restart LM Remote KeyMap.
With version 2.0 of LM Remote KeyMap you have to use the "Setup Remote" button to change the listening channel.
The Firefly Mini or MCE PC Remote is a USB HID Composite device that emulates a keyboard and a HID Consumer device.
Some buttons on the Firefly Mini or MCE PC Remote doesn't need any software to work as they really are like a keyboard key :
- Number buttons
- Arrows buttons
- Ok buttons
- Mute / Volume Up / Volume Down buttons
- Exit button (this one is really "Browser Backward")
- Stop / Skip Forward / Skip Backward
So for these buttons LM Remote KeyMap is installing a global keyboard hook that intercept all keyboard events (including those coming your regular keyboard or other HID keyboard device) and prevent the events corresponding to the buttons listed above to propagate to all Windows applications. Instead LM Remote KeyMap will issue its own action when you press those buttons on your remote (or the key on your keyboard).
Usually this will not cause you any issues if you use your PC mainly with the remote, but for instance your arrow keys on your keyboard will be slower and may not work with some software. If this is case please review the next FAQ item.
For all other buttons, LM Remote KeyMap cannot "block" them completely. Usually when you do not run the Firefly Mini or MCE default software this is not an issue as pressing those buttons will do nothing, but if a software can "listen" directly to the Firefly Mini / MCE consumer device : LM Remote KeyMap could not prevent it at all.
Arrow / Number and Enter keys on my keyboard are note working correctly with LM Remote KeyMap and Firefly Mini or MCE Remote. Can I do something about it?
Yes you can prevent LM Remote KeyMap from handling those keys when the default profile is used. As a result : the number / arrow and enter buttons on your Firefly Mini cannot be customized in the default profile but you can still customize them for any application you want.
To disable those buttons in the default profile, shutdown LM Remote KeyMap, open the file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LM Gestion\LM Remote KeyMap\settings.xml" into Notepad and change <fireflymini-enable-arrow-keys value="True" /> and <fireflymini-enable-number-keys value="True" /> and <fireflymini-enable-enter-key value="True" /> from True to False (you can enable / disable selectivly arrow / number and enter button), save the file and start LM Remote KeyMap.
With LM Remote KeyMap version 2.0, you can modify these settings directly by clicking on the "Setup Remote" button. With LM Remote KeyMap version 6.0 these settings can be found by clicking on the "Change remote settings" link.
