LM Remote KeyMap : USB-UIRT Virtual Remote

LM Remote KeyMap can use the USB-UIRT receiver for controlling your PC. However LM Remote KeyMap was designed for customizing remotes. That's why when you use an USB-UIRT as a receiver, you'll first need to create a virtual remote for LM Remote KeyMap to work on.

The virtual remote LM Remote KeyMap wants you to define is a 56 buttons remote. This means that LM Remote KeyMap will be able to react to 56 different IR codes received by the USB-UIRT. Those IR codes can be emitted by any remote you have : an old TV or DVD remote or any other unused remote.

You'll be able to customize the virtual remote when you choose the USB-UIRT as your remote receiver for the first time or when you click on the "Changer remote settings" link in the "Customize your remote" menu and then click on the "Learn received IR Codes" button. In both cases, you'll get the "USB-UIRT IR Codes Learning" window like this :

The customization process is simple :

  • Choose a virtual button in the drop down list, for instance "VolumeUp" (or click a button on the remote picture)
  • Point your real remote (the old TV remote for instance) at the USB-UIRT (you do not need to point the remote close to the USB-UIRT) and press and release the button (for instance the "Volume Up" button) on the remote you want to assign to the "VolumeUp" button of the LM Remote KeyMap Virtual Remote.
  • Press again on the same button : so as both IR Code One and IR Code Two fields are filled with some codes.
  • Repeat this for all (or some) of the virtual buttons

That's it you have customized your USB-UIRT Virtual remote. You can now create application profiles in LM Remote KeyMap.

So from now on :

  • When you press the "Volume Up" button on your old TV remote
  • LM Remote KeyMap will think that you pressed on the "Volume Up" button of the Virtual remote
  • And LM Remote KeyMap will carry on actions of the active application profile for the "Volume Up" button
