DVBViewer Recorder : Release Notes

07/16/2010 : version 2.6

  • Improved : Added more DVB subtitles format support
  • Fixed : Exporting DVBViewer EPG to XMLTV was only working once if DVBViewer was allowed to shutdown

03/03/2010 : version 2.5

  • Fixed : DVBViewer Recorder was not producing subtitles on some channels.
  • Improved : DVBViewer Recorder Monitor drops some message to avoid locking the recorder (and thus breaking connection with SageTV)
  • Improved : SageTV STVi caption playback import now features its own caption clock to avoid sync drifting during playback (clock is however reset when you jump in the recording). Also as the caption clock is done within the STV on some rare occasions the clock can be started two times (for instance after returning from a screen saver) and as such caption will playback two times faster, for correcting the issue stop and restart playback.
  • Improved : SageTV STVi caption playback now allows playback of subtitles even when the recording is splitted into multiple segments.

01/23/2010 : version 2.4

  • Added : Can extract DVB subtitles to an ISUB file for DVB subtitle playback in SageTV (or other use if you want to decode yourself the ISUB file wich is a LM Gestion file format containing subpicture images)
  • Fixed : Error in the Recorder editor (the "Create EDL" column doesn't accept an empty value)

01/10/2010 : version 2.3

  • Added : All TS streams recorded will be checked with the internal parser
  • Added : DVBViewer recorder will restart a recording until it find a valid video stream in the PMT
  • Added : DVBViewer recorder will stop a recording when the PMT changes and no video stream can be found in the new PMT (these restart and stop features are intended for channels that does change from MPEG2 to H264 during broadcast : DVBViewer doesn't record the video when this happens, stopping the recording allows you to at least record one program. This also means DVBViewer recorder is not suitable for recording audio only streams)
  • Added : Ability to launch a post processor (or more than one) when a recording starts or stops (for instance for launching comskip)
  • Added : Abitilty to create EDL files (that is a file to skip ads, channel by channel) based on DVB and Teletext subtitles: DVBViewer recorder creates a skip block for any part of the program that doesn't contains subtitles for more than one minute (usually commercials doesn't have subtitles) 

05/20/2009 : version 2.2

  • Fixed : allow audio/video to be enabled with DVBViewer version 4.1
  • Improved : added warning to the logs when the recorder realize that DVBViewer cannot create the recording where it is supposed to (and stops correctly the corresponding DVBViewer recording timer)

04/24/2009 : version 2.1

  • Fixed : in some situation DVBViewer Recoder was not stopping a recording properly.
  • Improved : DVBViewer Recorder now use registry to find the location of the sage.properties file before searching throughout your whole C: drive.
  • Added : DVBViewer Recorder will now delete any remaining timer created in DVBViewer when it starts (a timer can remain if the PC or recorder did crash in a middle of a recording)

  • Fixed : Resume the idle timeout when the PC resume, so that the PC can go to standby
  • Added : Option to prevent comskip / showanalyzer to run on H.264 recording
  • Added : Option to schedule DVBViewer EPG grabbing to XMLTV format

10/09/2008 : version 1.8

  • Fixed : On Windows Vista the "Start Recorders" button on the monitor was not working
  • Improved : Adding the SageTV recording folder(s) in DVBViewer 3.9.4 is enough, you don't have to add the trailing backslash manually
  • Added : You can now set an idle timeout, when the timeout expires DVBViewer Recorder will shut down DVBViewer for allowing your PC to go into standby.

07/18/2008 : version 1.7

  • Added : The recorder service will shutdown the recorders when your PC is suspended (DVBViewer will shutdown as well). Upon resuming, the recorder service will resume the recorders
  • Improved : When starting a recording, DVBViewer recorder will stop any recording in progress (in some rare circumstances SageTV doesn't stop recordings)
  • Improved : when the fast back to back recordings option is selected and audio / video is not disabled in DVBViewer, DVBViewer Recorder will destroy the playback graph 25 sec. after the last recording stops. 

03/28/2008 : version 1.6

  • Added : "Fast Back to Back Recording" option for a recorder to have fast channel change during back to back recordings (or channel switching). This should be enabled only on one recorder (as the recorder force DVBViewer to create a playback graph for 5sec when a recording stops, and only one playback graph can exits.). This option is useful if your CAM is a little slow and you miss several seconds of show content on back to back recordings.

02/19/2008 : version 1.5

  • Modified : "CloseGraph" is issued after the restart delay expires (or 20s after the recording start if restart delay is not used).
  • Added : DVBViewer Recorder Monitor to get DVBViewer Recorder status and trace in real time.
  • Fixed : Error in teletext packet number extraction resulting in missed subtitles

02/15/2008 : version 1.4

  • Modified : when audio & video are enabled in DVBViewer, DVBViewer Recorder issue a "CloseGraph" command as soon as the recording has started to prevent locking a tuner permanently in DVBViewer (should solve issue when switching to a channel on the same transponder)

02/12/2008 : version 1.3

  • Added : Option to disable or not audio & video in DVBViewer (disabled = default). It may help some plugin to not disable audio & video. It is recommended to disable audio & video in DVBViewer, when audio & video is enabled DVBViewer will always use one tuner. Also with some CAM hardware switching from one channel to another on the same transponder may not work.
  • Added : Standalone Recoder for testing purpose. The standalone recorder can replace the recorder service (the service must be stopped and set to start manually) and let you interact with DVBViewer while DVBViewer is used as a recording engine for SageTV.

02/09/2008 : version 1.2

  • Fixed : Unexpected error "Some or all identity references could not be translated" when DVBViewer Recorder service starts up.
  • Fixed : Error when a DVBViewer channel name contains a quote (System.Xml.XPath.XPathException).

02/05/2008 : version 1.1

  • Added : Option to specify the path to DVBViewer and if DVBViewer should be run in debug mode
  • Fixed : Your are warned about failure to restart the service on Windows XP if you are not running the config utility with an account without enough privileges
  • Changed : during teletext subtitles extraction DVBViewer Recorder will try to stay 2MB behind the end of the recorded file (this is to avoid reading data that may not be real data)
